Find Another Door

I was returning from my daily walk around the grounds yesterday, when I saw this fine specimen sunning himself on the frame of the door that leads into the research area, where my office is.

There was no way I could have used that door without disturbing his afternoon. So I took out my cellphone, snapped a couple of great pictures, and then walked round the long way instead.

(If you go through to my flickr page, you'll also see the prairie dog who was kind enough to pose for me earlier in my walk)

I'm going to try to have a quiet weekend. With ice cream. We'll see how well I succeed.

Ice cream! Your weekend already sounds better than mine! ;-)

It's funny how ice cream can do that. I'm not feeling that well myself (might post about that under my "medical" filter) but your symptoms sound far worse. Hope you feel better real soon.

I saw your words at Leith's and thought I would "follow you home" to see what you meant...then seeing that photo of the scorpion below I freaked a bit, hoping that all the grasshoppers I've had here didn't mean those were next!

You might have just convinced me to stay in Kansas...

Whatever is going on, I hope you are feeling better now, ice cream or not!

Thanks, Alan! I am feeling better now, though off work till next week.

My officemate who found the scorpion in her desk just emailed me today, to say there was a huge spider on the breakroom table today. She's starting to feel a little freaked out at the workplace menagerie (and she's a biologist!)

Glad you are feeling better and getting some "downtime" to rest up!

My grandson (9) asked us a couple of weekends ago to take him back to the KU Museum of Natural History we had visited with he and his sister last year. I was delighted, as I've loved that place for the 43 years since my first visit and had thought perhaps the fossils he had been "bored" by were more intriguing now.

I found out later he told his Grandmother that he wanted to see the snakes again, because they were "cool"!

Maybe next time!
