|01:52 pm - Always drama at work|
My officemate Alix needed to call our custodial department to report a clogged toilet, so she went to get her internal phonebook out of her desk drawer...
...and screamed and jumped half way across the room. (Note: Alix is a scientific researcher and not given to such behaviors)
There was a bark scorpion running around in the drawer.
I lent her my phonebook.
As it was still there a few hours later, we called herpetology and Ken came over with tongs and a plastic container and took it away, but not before I took the photo on the right.
Never a dull moment here.
Current Location: Work
Current Mood: shocked
Sure sounds like there's always something at your work to keep you, or in this case Alix, on your toes!!
Oh God these things creep me out. We have them here too but much smaller. I would have used your phone book to dial it a new address like bug heaven. SQUEESH!

Oh, that would have been my instinct too, Teri. The only problem is that, as an accredited zoo, we're not supposed to harm creatures unnecessarily. The centipede that was discovered under my desk a while ago is still on exhibit in our invertebrate room!
I do think the policy has had an effect on the creatures that live on grounds. Somehow, the mice seem to avoid the humane mouse traps completely, and leave little "offerings" on my desk on a daily basis. Ew.

(On a brighter note: Happy [belated] Birthday! :) )

I always love your kitty icons :)

Why does no one EVER find something cute & cuddly in their drawer or behind their stove? Too bad you couldn't have used the scorpion to keep the mice off your desk. :)
